Ken Johnston will lead a lantern making workshop from 2 to 5 pm on June 18th, followed by a lantern parade in the evening. Ken is a Philadelphia-based walking artist, who responds to the call of social change and history by walking to put movement back in the civil rights movement. He recently completed a 265-mile walk on the Underground Railroad Byway from Poplar Neck, MD to Harlem, NY. The program is free* and will be held at the American Legion Hall, corner of State and Broad Streets. All ages are invited to participate. Masks will be required. Thanks to the generous support of Hadley.
Kennett Heritage Center invites local art teachers to participate in this fun and meaningful event. The workshop will offer lanterns for every level of skill and patience: bamboo and tissue paper lanterns for older students and adults, recycled soda bottle lanterns for practically anyone, and ready-made paper lanterns for the youngest kids.
